The FlexLM license service has nothing to do with the DOORS service. It may make sense to load them both on the same server but they need not be.

Check out the Install manual.

You install the FlexLM license service on some server. You specify the 'port' to the install program, which is the 'recieve' port, default 7192 (or 19353). The 'return' port is specified (oddly) in the license file itself, default 7193 (or 19354). You need to know the name of your server, lets say 'MyServer'.

Installing the DOORS service means specifying a port (perhaps 36677) and a root data location folder. I dislike putting the database inside the install directory c:\Program Files\IBM\Rational\DOORS\9.2\data, but would rather put it somewhere better, perhaps: c:\Doors-Data\v92\. Installing the DOORS service means 'on this server', so you don't actually specify the name of the server. I don't understand about the DOORS service 'return' port, but believe it's 36678.

All ports must be 'broken' through the firewall, 7192, 7193, 36677, 36678.

Install each DOORS client requires you to specify the service data port (36677) and data server (MyServer), and then get a chance to specify Licensing, in this case 7192@MyServer.
